Summary -

I worked at Banner Estrella and overall was a decent assignment, especially loved the 3Γ—12 schedule which allowed for solid time off between shifts. I ended up extending once for a few weeks.

That said, this is a very busy hospital, and the department was short-staffed at times, so being comfortable working at a fast pace is important. The OR workload was heavy, even on weekends, so strong C-arm experience is pretty important for this assignment. The ER also stayed consistently busy, with a steady flow of exams throughout the shift.

From an equipment standpoint, the ER was running two Carestream portable units, and at the time I was there I believe the ER rooms included Carestream and Fuji systems.

Despite the workload, the management and staff were friendly and supportive, which made a big difference during busy shifts. The team environment helped balance out the pace and kept things running as smoothly as possible.

Location-wise, Phoenix is an excellent city for a travel assignment. There’s no shortage of hiking, entertainment, and outdoor activities, with easy access to surrounding areas like Scottsdale and beyond.

Overall, this is a solid contract for techs who are comfortable with high volume, OR work, fluoro and C-arm use, and who want to be in a city with plenty to do outside of work.
